Excursions in Croatia Attractions
Hvar
Hvar’s pulse starts to beat around ten in the morning, which marks the arrival of the first catamaran. This is a great time to sit on the terrace at Café Pjaca, read the paper and drink a fresh cup of coffee. It is also an opportunity to meet some locals and find out about secret swimming coves and special events. By noon most visitors have ventured off to the Paklinski islands for a day of fun in the sun, which is ultimately followed by a siesta lasting until about 5 p.m. If by chance you find yourself wandering around the city at this time of day, locals may greet you with the phrase “pomalo” which translates to “take it easy” or “slow down”.

Dubrovnik
The old city of Dubrovnik has remained basically unchanged since the thirteenth century. Its medieval ramparts encircle the city divided in two by the main street – Stradun.
From the Stradun, side streets scamper up the hill toward the ramparts or wind south toward the port. In either direction, the city is alive with open air markets, artisans’ shops and studios of artists, Baroque churches and Gothic-Renaisssance palaces, unexpected courtyards with fluted columns and splashing fountains, and covered loggias in which to sit and watch the world saunter by.
Every visitor to Dubrovnik can discover the unparalleled freedom of a city where no cars are allowed and the stone-faced houses and orange-tiled roofs have not changed for centuries.

Split
Today’s Split is the product of 17 centuries of building, renovating and remodelling, so that the new of today meshes with the old of yesterday. At the core of this sprawling cityscape is the palace that Emperor Diocletian built for his golden years at the turn of the 4th century.
What began as an imperial residence and fortified camp is today an intriguing warren of narrow cobblestone streets, where pre-Romanesque churches live alongside Gothic chapels, history-filled museums abut galleries of contemporary art and delicious-smelling restaurants compete with bustling cafes for the attention of passers-by.
